About the position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies necessary for manufacturing and production processes. This role ensures that materials are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in a timely manner to meet production schedules and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, excellent supplier relationship management capabilities, and a deep understanding of market trends and supply chain logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, delivery times, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve the best possible terms for the company.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers to ensure that materials are sourced competitively.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, addressing any issues that arise and maintaining strong, long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with production, quality control, and other departments to ensure material specifications and delivery schedules meet company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier performance, and market conditions.
  • Implement and manage inventory control systems to optimize stock levels and minimize costs.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements in all procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field and/or 5 years of experience in procurement or material acquisition, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and contract management.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess market conditions and supplier capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CPIM).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
