About the position

The Non-Ferrous Scrap Buyer will manage the purchase and sale of scrap metal, primarily focusing on non-ferrous trading at the Milwaukee, WI location. This role involves solidifying existing relationships with suppliers and customers, developing new partnerships, and ensuring efficient processing of scrap metal. The position requires conducting market research, negotiating contracts, and assessing risks associated with scrap metal trading to maximize profitability.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase and sale of scrap metal at the Milwaukee, WI location.
• Focus primarily on non-ferrous trading while also handling ferrous trading.
• Solidify existing relationships with scrap metal suppliers and customers.
• Develop new relationships with scrap metal suppliers and customers.
• Work with the operations team to ensure timely and efficient processing of scrap metal.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, pricing structures, and potential business opportunities.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and other terms for purchasing and selling scrap metal.
• Monitor and assess risks associated with scrap metal trading and develop strategies to protect against those risks.

Requirements

• Knowledge of scrap metal grades and industry quality/grading standards by grade.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong understanding of market trends and dynamics.
