About the position

The Purchasing Manager at SDI, Inc. is a key leadership role responsible for managing the procurement of parts and materials to ensure clients receive what they need efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills and a customer service focus, as the manager will work directly with suppliers and clients to optimize purchasing processes and resolve issues. The role is on-site in Palo Alto, CA, and involves collaboration with various departments to maintain service metrics and improve supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and own maintenance, repairs, and operations (MRO) purchasing from requisition creation to receipt for specific clients.
• Handle transaction negotiations directly with clients, ensuring top-notch customer service within the preferred supplier strategy timeline.
• Develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers.
• Maintain transaction service metrics in an inbound call center environment.
• Review and handle all invoice exceptions associated with purchasing and expedite open orders.
• Act as a liaison between clients, suppliers, and other departments to resolve purchasing-related issues.
• Proactively communicate with suppliers regarding delivery dates and with the field team about tracking orders and shipments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in MRO or indirect purchasing.
• Experience in negotiation (1 year preferred).
• Experience in purchasing (1 year required).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ERP software.
