About the position

The Purchasing Manager - Raw Materials is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply and timely procurement of assigned raw materials. This role involves managing supplier relationships, analyzing market conditions, and making recommendations to maintain an uninterrupted flow of materials to production facilities. The Purchasing Manager will utilize their analytical and purchasing skills to source materials effectively, support new product innovation, and manage contracts and supplier performance.

Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase raw materials.
  • Generate market analysis of raw materials to support sourcing strategy.
  • Develop annual contract recommendations to meet current and future requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with sales, demand planning, production scheduling, and suppliers regarding supply requirements.
  • Manage price projections and meet budgetary goals.
  • Assist R&D Department in sourcing materials for new product innovation.
  • Source and maintain a supply base that meets quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and lead suppliers' annual performance reviews.
  • Work with R&D and Supplier Quality to identify and approve alternate sources of supply.
  • Assist in resolving non-compliant material claims with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Support CSR initiatives through the EcoVadis platform.
  • Present comprehensive data to management for buying and contracting decisions.
  • Conduct spend analysis, manage inventory levels, and identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Prepare, report, and communicate cost savings and forecast variances for purchasing responsibilities.
  • Responsible for annual budget and business plan preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in purchasing, materials management, or agri-business.
  • 5+ years of experience in a materials-related function or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience in the CPG industry.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience buying agricultural products.
  • Extensive spreadsheet analysis and strong mathematical skills with extreme accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Planning, organization, and execution skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems.
