In this role, you will be responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training team members, as well as evaluating their performance and creating succession plans. You will develop new and update existing standards and procedures for the team, and create desk-level training instructions for ERP (Oracle) purchasing and planning duties. Additionally, you will create and implement KPIs and metrics to monitor and improve departmental performance in alignment with corporate metrics and goals. You will prepare, evaluate, and make recommendations to management and executives on Requests for Proposals and Requests for Quotations, negotiate supplier contracts, and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers. Your role will also involve managing supplier contracts, negotiating contract renewals, and creating supplier management programs to ensure excellence in technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery cost, and enterprise. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, monitor inventory levels, and implement strategies to minimize stock-outs while optimizing inventory turnover. You will drive Plan-For-Every-Part analysis, manage production plans, and analyze purchasing and planning data to support decision-making and cost reduction initiatives. Leading LEAN trainings and activities will also be part of your responsibilities, along with ensuring compliance with ISO standards and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, and train buyer/planner team members.
  • Evaluate team performance and create succession plans.
  • Develop and update standards and procedures for the team.
  • Create desk-level training instructions for ERP (Oracle) purchasing and planning duties.
  • Create and implement KPIs and metrics to monitor departmental performance.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and make recommendations on Requests for Proposals and Quotations.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts and present recommendations to the executive team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and manage supplier contracts.
  • Create and implement supplier management programs to monitor supplier KPIs.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions and orders for accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with finance for accurate and timely payment of invoices.
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to minimize stock-outs.
  • Drive Plan-For-Every-Part analysis and manage production plans.
  • Analyze purchasing and planning data to support decision-making.
  • Prepare and present budgets and departmental goals.
  • Lead LEAN trainings and activities for continuous process improvements.
  • Act as departmental data champion and Subject Matter Expert.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • Greater than eight years of purchasing/planning/materials management experience in electronic and/or electro-mechanical manufacturing.
  • Three or more years of experience in a managerial capacity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Experience with Kan Ban, Pull Systems, Free Stock, VMI, and Replenishment Programs.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
  • Multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and ability to train others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced leadership skills and traits.
  • LEAN experience or training required.
  • PFEP and Materials Management experience required.
  • Technology literate.
