About the position

The Purchasing Manager at M&M Manufacturing plays a crucial role in developing and implementing purchasing and sourcing policies while managing all purchasing activities. This position involves selecting sources of supply, maintaining supplier relationships, and driving cost savings for assigned categories of spend. The ideal candidate will lead a team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across various internal stakeholders and locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing/sourcing policies.
  • Administer all purchasing activities including selecting sources of supply and managing supplier relationships.
  • Lead a team of direct reports, providing direction, guidance, and training.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on business initiatives requiring purchasing support.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders and contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Lead end-to-end RFP/RFI processes for assigned areas of spend.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to maximize organizational impact.
  • Manage supplier relationships and address price, quality, and service issues.
  • Analyze spend areas to assist with budgeting and goal setting.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory planning.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems, with QAD being a plus.
  • Professional certification such as CPM, CPSM, or CPIM is a plus.
