The Purchasing Manager is a critical role within a raw materials production company located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire purchasing process, which includes working closely with suppliers, scheduling materials to meet customer demands, and managing Request for Quotation (RFQ) initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with strong negotiation skills, capable of ensuring that the procurement operations align with the company's strategic goals. The salary for this position ranges from $85,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will coordinate, direct, and monitor purchasing opportunities, ensuring that the company selects reliable vendors who can provide quality goods and services at the best possible cost. This includes comparing prices, specifications, delivery dates, and quality expectations. Once recommendations are made, the Purchasing Manager will award contracts and/or purchase orders to the selected vendors. Additionally, the role involves supporting the testing of the ERP system on a quarterly basis to ensure that system updates do not negatively impact the procurement module in Oracle. The Purchasing Manager will also be responsible for developing, monitoring, and instituting programs and procedures for bids and purchase orders. They will own the Supplier Defect process, working to resolve issues between the company and suppliers, and will participate in Corporate Procurement Strategic initiatives as an extended team member on Strategic Sourcing projects. Monitoring cost-effectiveness and driving the identification and implementation of cost reduction opportunities are also key responsibilities. The role requires interaction with vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality materials and competitive pricing, as well as collaboration with Department Managers to understand their needs and verify purchase requests. Overall, the Purchasing Manager plays a vital role in ensuring that the procurement process is efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with safety and environmental regulations, while also fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the purchasing department.
