About the position

We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee our procurement operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the feed or pet food industry and a thorough understanding of packaging materials and suppliers. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality materials and products. The Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with company objectives, ensuring a consistent supply of materials and products. In this position, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and establishing relationships with suppliers. This includes negotiating contracts and terms to secure the best possible pricing and quality. The role also requires monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with production and sales teams to forecast needs and ensure optimal stock levels. The Purchasing Manager will analyze market trends and supplier pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost control measures without compromising on quality. Quality assurance is a key aspect of this role, as the Purchasing Manager must ensure that all purchased materials and products meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements. This includes conducting regular supplier audits and quality checks. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will source and manage packaging materials, ensuring they meet the specific requirements of the feed or pet food products while staying updated on the latest packaging innovations and regulations. The role also involves maintaining accurate procurement records and generating reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance. Cross-functional collaboration is essential, as the Purchasing Manager will work closely with R&D, production, quality assurance, and marketing teams to align procurement activities with product development and business goals. Furthermore, the Purchasing Manager will identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate them, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to procurement and supplier management.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role within the feed or pet food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Experience with packaging materials and suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is desirable.
