About the position

Stone Warehouse USA is one of the largest suppliers of natural and engineered stone in Florida, known for our high-quality and unique selection of semi-precious granite, marble, onyx, quartzite, and porcelain slabs. We are the exclusive distributor of Quantum Quartz and Lapitec, an engineered stone produced with the finest materials by highly qualified craftsmen. Our products have been imported from Italy, Brazil, India, and Asia for the past 17 years, and we also offer a wide range of products including tile and backsplash materials to coordinate with new or existing countertops. We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our Tampa location team. This role is crucial as it involves handling the procurement process, sourcing suppliers, and managing vendor relationships to ensure a seamless supply chain and optimize costs. As a Purchasing Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, make strategic decisions, and implement best practices within our procurement function. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing procurement strategies and policies aimed at cost optimization and enhancing supply chain efficiency. You will identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to ethical and sustainability standards. Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing and payment terms will also be a key part of your role. In addition, you will conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, manage supplier relationships, monitor inventory levels, and implement inventory management strategies to avoid shortages or excesses. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies for cost optimization and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing and payment terms.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align procurement activities with organizational goals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including ongoing performance evaluation, issue resolution, and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor inventory levels, analyze demand patterns, and implement inventory management strategies to manage stock levels and avoid shortages or excesses.
  • Implement procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Source and negotiate with potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and evaluate their suitability based on predefined criteria.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, performance metrics, and cost savings to higher management.
  • Develop and maintain procurement metrics to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and report on sourcing effectiveness.
  • Implement sustainable and socially responsible strategic sourcing practices, including supporting local suppliers and promoting ethical sourcing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a purchasing manager.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, strategies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrable experience in the Indian market and familiarity with local suppliers and sourcing channels.
  • Experience in implementing sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimization, and negotiation techniques.
  • Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
  • An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.
  • Knowledge of local and national laws and regulations related to procurement.
