The Purchasing Manager position is a dynamic and hands-on managerial role that requires collaboration with various departments including Engineering, Operations, Sales/Marketing, and other business stakeholders. The primary focus of this role is to execute and optimize the purchasing process across complex purchasing categories, particularly in the US, Europe, and Taiwan. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with a global team to monitor purchasing workflow efficiency and supplier performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This position is crucial for identifying optimization opportunities and negotiating more favorable vendor contracts, payment terms, and pricing arrangements. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that purchasing management priorities align with the overall organizational goals. Strong facilitation skills are essential to drive consensus among stakeholders. The ability to navigate ambiguous situations and bring clarity to problem-solving is critical, with an emphasis on organization, workflow optimization, and project management. The Purchasing Manager will supervise and optimize the workflow of purchasing orders with suppliers to ensure process consistency and maximum efficiency. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will implement KPIs to evaluate supplier performance, maintain and update the Approved Vendors List, and identify opportunities for improvement. Establishing cost-saving plans and actions will also be a key responsibility. A thorough understanding of bidding and contractual steps is necessary to negotiate for the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of long-term services in the assigned purchasing categories. The role also involves project management and collaboration with business stakeholders and legal teams in complex category purchasing, applying strong communication and negotiation skills. Furthermore, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for developing the purchasing staff through training, setting performance goals, and conducting employee evaluations to build a robust purchasing function and create a Best-in-Class environment. Managing and updating all policies and procedures for the Purchasing Department is also part of the role, along with other duties as assigned.
