The Purchasing Manager at The Edelbrock Group is a pivotal role responsible for coordinating the purchasing function across multiple domestic locations. This position involves direct supervision of a team of 11 Buyers, ensuring that the purchasing process is controlled and adheres to established strategies. The Purchasing Manager will maintain the integrity of planning data within the ERP system, manage delivery lead times, and oversee supplier control. A key aspect of this role is to ensure that the purchasing training process is followed diligently, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in purchasing. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will manage and monitor purchase orders, which includes overseeing the receipt of price quotations, selection of suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The manager will also identify and manage purchased materials, which may include parts, components, and products. Continuous improvement activities will be a significant focus, aimed at achieving cost reductions, enhancing quality, and standardizing processes across the purchasing function. The Purchasing Manager will lead the training program for purchasing personnel, ensuring that all team members receive adequate and effective training and retraining as necessary. Performance management is another critical responsibility, where the manager will provide both informal and formal feedback to assess employee performance, conduct timely performance reviews, and help employees improve their skills and contributions to the team. Upholding the highest standards and ethics in all purchasing activities is essential, as is monitoring Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs) to ensure that Buyers are driving closure and corrective actions from vendors. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will manage the material portfolio and purchase orders to meet inventory targets, drive the purchasing team to meet established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and perform audits to ensure adherence to company policies.
