About the position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing purchasing strategies and managing vendor relationships to ensure the procurement of materials, pharmaceuticals, medical and office equipment, and technology meets the needs of healthcare providers and patients. This role requires compliance with the purchasing standards of CommonSpirit Health and involves collaboration with clinic management and various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the processes and tracking of timely procurement for operations, capital and maintenance.
  • Oversee the weekly ordering, receipt, and distribution of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals in support of clinic operations.
  • Supervise materials clerks in ordering and receiving supplies and pharmaceuticals, ensuring compliance with CommonSpirit Health formularies.
  • Oversee the employed courier for delivery of supplies and distribution of mail.
  • Engage with CommonSpirit Health materials management personnel on health system initiatives.
  • Assist clinic managers in coordinating maintenance needs with CommonSpirit biomedical personnel.
  • Support the information technology department with technology equipment acquisition and service agreements.
  • Collaborate with the facilities department on construction projects and facility signage modifications.
  • Assist clinic managers with capital equipment specifications and pricing for annual capital budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement and manage risks in supply chain activities.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the purchasing system and inventory master file.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school graduate.
  • At least 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Prior healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with CommonSpirit Health standards.
