About the position

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and services necessary for the production of electronic assemblies at a leading contract manufacturer. This role involves managing a team, developing procurement strategies, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and prioritize tasks within the purchasing team to support efficient procurement operations.
  • Set performance targets and KPIs for the team to align with company goals; track and report key metrics to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering continuous skill improvement.
  • Conduct cost analysis, scenario planning, and benchmarking to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate procurement risks.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure adherence to delivery, quality, and pricing commitments.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies focused on optimizing cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers, particularly for electronic components, PCBs, and other manufacturing materials.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards and on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with production planning and engineering teams to secure materials that align with production schedules, avoiding overstocking or delays.
  • Implement inventory management systems to balance lead times and minimize excess or obsolete stock.
  • Regularly review stock levels and manage reorder points based on forecasted demand.
  • Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and supplier costs to make strategic procurement decisions.
  • Lead cost-reduction efforts, including value engineering and alternative sourcing to drive continuous improvement.
  • Report purchasing performance, cost savings, and budget variances to senior management.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet industry regulations, quality standards, and customer specifications.
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks, such as by qualifying alternative suppliers or negotiating long-term agreements.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including sourcing of RoHS and REACH-compliant components.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers to support mutual goals.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits and performance evaluations to encourage continuous improvement and alignment with company objectives.

Requirements

  • BS Degree
  • Contract manufacturing industry background
  • Mechanical and electronics experience
  • Manager, Supervisor or lead experience in purchasing
  • Experience in Purchasing, Warehouse and Logistics
  • Proficiency in SAP
