About the position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for obtaining raw materials and services at the lowest total cost while adhering to corporate and local directives. This role ensures the timely procurement of materials necessary for uninterrupted production flow, focusing on quality and competitive pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchases to maintain responsiveness to production requirements and to obtain best possible quality and price.
  • Issue purchase orders for all raw materials, plant supplies, and purchased finished goods at the plant, which includes confirmation of orders.
  • Meet with representatives to keep informed of changes in the market and raw materials available.
  • Approve all raw materials and finished goods purchase orders.
  • Manage finished goods inventories at all locations to meet or exceed service goals and ensure proper safety stock levels and inventory control.
  • Process all vendor returns.
  • Maintain vendor files as it relates to Purchase Orders and requisitions at the site, including information in the computer databases.
  • Monitor vendor performance data and sub-standards to bring about corrective action.
  • Schedule and plan deliveries.
  • Disposition and control of obsolete and surplus materials.
  • Develop cost-savings initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or have at least four (4) years of work experience in a Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations role
  • Must have at least three (3) years of work experience in a Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations role

Nice-to-haves

  • Have prior work experience using MRP (Material Resource Planning) and MPS (Material Production Scheduling) systems
  • Have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility
