About the position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for ensuring that raw material supply and cost objectives are met or exceeded by managing raw material inventories. This role involves investigating variances from planned targets, collaborating with various departments to fulfill customer requirements, and facilitating efficient production schedules. The Purchasing Manager also reviews supplier performance, identifies supply chain risks, and ensures compliance with company policies and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure raw material supply and cost objectives are met or exceeded by establishing and controlling raw material inventories.
• Investigate variances from planned targets and establish their root cause.
• Formulate and implement corrective actions where needed.
• Collaborate with managers and peers to fulfill internal and external customer requirements.
• Meet regularly with manufacturing and sales personnel to provide supply chain perspective when developing customer proposals.
• Facilitate efficient production schedules.
• Review supplier performance and product quality.
• Identify and address supply chain risk by assessing vendor capabilities and supplier performance for impact on the company.
• Ensure alternative sourcing in critical areas to mitigate risk and reduce cost.
• Follow Work Instructions, procedures, and company policies, including safety procedures and quality systems requirements.

Requirements

• 10 years of experience or education equivalent to ten years experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and employees in a professional manner.
• Able to read, write, and comprehend written and oral instructions.
• Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and MRP.
