About the position

Spectrum Vision Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team at the Central Business Office in Garden City, NY. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our Clinics and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) by managing all aspects of procurement, including sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare purchasing, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This position reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for managing the purchasing team and their goals. As a Purchasing Manager, you will develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective sourcing of high-quality supplies. You will be responsible for sourcing and evaluating suppliers/vendors based on quality, price, reliability, and service, and negotiating their contracts and terms. It is essential that purchases align with the organization's financial goals while managing inventory levels to optimize stock. You will identify opportunity areas such as product standardization and supplier consolidation to reduce costs while improving quality and service levels. Additionally, you will serve as a liaison between other departments and the Materials Management Department to ensure adequate supplies of materials are on hand. Your responsibilities will also include managing capital expenditure purchases to secure cost savings and timely implementation, optimizing terms and conditions, and overseeing the budget process for capital expenditures with the clinics and ASCs in collaboration with local leadership. Maintaining accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor communications is crucial, as is overseeing the receiving process to ensure accuracy and quality control of incoming goods. You will need to resolve any purchasing-related issues or discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner, demonstrating strong vendor communication skills and a proactive approach to addressing internal and external discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure purchases align with the organization's financial goals and manage inventory levels to optimize stock.

  • Resolve any purchasing-related issues or discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • 7 years of related purchasing experience, with at least 3 years as a manager in the Healthcare industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills with excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, using those abilities to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ENVI.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Available to travel for onboarding new locations and for physical inventories bi-annually.
  • Knowledge of retina drugs is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare purchasing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
