About the position

The Purchasing Manager at WestRock is responsible for overseeing storeroom operations and managing the procurement process for raw materials and supplies essential for the Papermill and extrusion operations. This role involves leading supplier relationships, implementing service level agreements, and driving continuous improvement in procurement processes. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with the General Manager and key area managers to ensure efficient operations and cost reduction opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the people, goals, KPIs, and company policies of the BU Purchasing department.
  • Oversee the BU Mill Stores department and its policies.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance against agreed goals and metrics.
  • Provide escalation process for ongoing issues to solve problems.
  • Drive value through the SVM program management & reporting.
  • Conduct business unit ISO supplier performance evaluations and participate in company-wide evaluations.
  • Analyze spend to identify sourcing opportunities.
  • Lead efforts to reduce the total cost of ownership.
  • Integrate shared service processes into the operating unit's processes.
  • Identify and facilitate training programs in the procurement process.
  • Measure GBS, SBS, and BU performance against service level agreements.
  • Implement changes necessary to improve performance.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Global Business Services and Shared Business Support.
  • Provide strategy and sourcing for specific business unit needs.
  • Develop annual procurement plans with business unit management.
  • Facilitate evaluation and selection of new suppliers.
  • Provide forecasted demand to suppliers and sourcing managers.
  • Identify sourcing requirements for new product development.
  • Facilitate forecast price reporting to the business.
  • Provide visibility to risk and participate in risk mitigation activities.
  • Support business excellence organization with resources on sourcing strategy.
  • Ensure procurement compliance with policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing or sourcing related position.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Organizational skills specific to Purchasing and Mill Stores.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Analytical competency.
  • Teamwork skills - ability to work as a member or leader.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
