About the position

HealthPoint is seeking a Purchasing Manager who will play a crucial role in directing and leading a procurement team to manage the organization's sourcing capabilities and supply chain. This position is essential for strategizing and negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure cost-effective deals while ensuring quality control and adherence to company policies. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for developing innovative procurement strategies that enhance user experience and standardize processes across the organization. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will oversee central supply warehouse operations, including workflows, inventory management, and safety protocols. They will review and negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms, ensuring that HealthPoint maintains strong partnerships with reliable vendors. The manager will also develop workflows for purchasing, receiving, and managing inventory of supplies and equipment, while monitoring budget variances at both the administrative and clinic site levels. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will provide internal customer service to various departments, including Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy, by clarifying policies and procedures. They will identify technology and process system issues, working collaboratively with staff and vendors to resolve service deficits. The role includes overseeing IT systems that track shipments and inventory, as well as managing the hiring, performance management, and training of procurement staff. The Purchasing Manager will utilize HealthPoint's LEAN Management System methodologies to identify waste and implement improvements, ensuring that all operations align with the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead a procurement team to manage HealthPoint's sourcing capabilities and supply chain.
  • Develop procurement strategies that are inventive, cost-effective, standardized, and improve user-end experience.
  • Oversee central supply warehouse operations including workflows, inventory management, and safety.
  • Review and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
  • Develop workflows for purchasing, receiving, and managing inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor and assess budget variances both centrally in administration and at the site clinic level.
  • Develop and monitor financial controls for ordering and receiving supplies, driving contract compliance at the site level.
  • Provide internal customer service to Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy departments by explaining policies and procedures.
  • Identify technology and process system issues by working with staff and vendors to resolve deficits in service.
  • Oversee and manage the IT systems that track shipments, inventory, and supply of goods.
  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, talent development, employee relations, recognition, and training of staff.
  • Conduct department operations using HealthPoint's LEAN Management System methodologies to identify waste and implement changes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree and MBA/MSCM (Master's of Supply Chain Management) preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in supply chain, purchasing, and procurement or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry-related journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write reports and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, clients, external groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Knowledge of computer equipment and intermediate level of Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Knowledge of Procurement Management Software strongly preferred.
