About the position

The Purchasing Manager at ITW Shakeproof is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving change in a dynamic environment. This position focuses on developing and implementing purchasing and sourcing strategies across the Shakeproof division, ensuring effective supplier management and inventory control. The Purchasing Manager will lead a small team, manage vendor negotiations, and support cross-functional initiatives to enhance supply chain processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and motivates core talent within the purchasing/supply chain group.
  • Creates standardized processes and systems for purchasing practices in alignment with ITW models.
  • Directs workflow within the department and assigns work as needed.
  • Leads complex vendor negotiations with raw material suppliers to secure best pricing and contract setups.
  • Develops and manages a network of vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent supplies and competitive pricing.
  • Ensures MRD target setting, review, and exception reporting is completed and maintained.
  • Facilitates and maintains timely quotations for all products.
  • Optimizes in-stock quantities while managing slow and obsolete inventory.
  • Manages inventory for ramp-ups and ramp-downs.
  • Reviews and manages Purchase Price Variance (PPV) reports.
  • Identifies and manages part expeditions.
  • Aligns with production and internal customers to ensure planned production schedules are met.
  • Keeps management and stakeholders updated on current projects and issues.
  • Supports the engineering team with APQP processes for new business and product launches.
  • Provides cross-functional support by completing special assignments and performing data analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain, or business management.
  • 5+ years of experience in effective supplier management, including negotiation and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing-related inventory management and purchasing.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage cost savings and new product development projects.
  • Experience in setting goals and performance management.
  • Proven track record of cost savings and employee development results.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials function and understanding of value propositions.
  • Demonstrated competency in prioritization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and make critical business decisions based on established metrics.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
