About the position

The Purchasing Manager will lead a team of buyers in a dynamic manufacturing organization, focusing on the negotiation and placement of purchase orders for goods and services. This role is essential for ensuring that purchasing activities align with the company's cost, quality, and delivery objectives, while also developing cost-saving strategies and maintaining vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules with vendors for all purchased items.
  • Place authorized purchase order requisitions with approved vendors.
  • Qualify and recommend vendors for the Approved Vendor List.
  • Submit company information to new suppliers and request required info for vendor setup.
  • Work closely with QA to set up and maintain AVL status and information.
  • Maintain the flow of information from purchase order expedites/follow-up to the requesting department.
  • Develop and maintain a cost savings program in support of department goals.
  • Negotiate the resolution of rejected materials and any financial adjustments.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of competitive sources for price, delivery, and quality.
  • Track open orders with Micross vendors.
  • Maintain planning and tracking of products through incoming.
  • Provide manager with strategic plans to enhance and maintain vendor rating.
  • Implement strategic plans and coordinate with section co-workers for efficiency.
  • Track on-time deliveries from suppliers.
  • Run weekly open-order reports.
  • Track inventory on-hand versus on order.
  • Track inventory balance for obsolete material.
  • Implement cost-savings/reduction plans.
  • Manage RFQs, set up POs and shipping documents, and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Manage subcontracted activities and control jobs for outside services.
  • Process and track credit card purchases for orders.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and vendor management experience.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data related to purchasing and inventory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance standards and practices.
  • Certification in supply chain management or purchasing.
