About the position

The Purchasing Manager at New Horizons Food Solutions is responsible for building, implementing, and maintaining category strategies to drive cost savings, minimize risks, and manage supplier performance. This role requires expertise in category management and involves working collaboratively with various teams to ensure optimal supply chain operations and product quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage supply agreements with suppliers.
• Act as category subject matter expert to educate the organization around assigned category.
• Work cross-functionally with other buyers, category managers, sales team, and operations team.
• Identify new product and category opportunities.
• Analyze key metrics by category and SKU to identify assortment gaps.
• Set and monitor pricing to meet financial and departmental targets.
• Negotiate market and seasonal pricing with suppliers.
• Build strong relationships with producers in assigned category.
• Own accuracy of gross margin, PO, and COGs data and invoice reconciliation.
• Keep Days On Hand (DOH) to target goals.
• Identify category opportunities based on trends.
• Work with Operations to control raw materials.
• Ensure accurate inventory and supply through demand planning.
• Interpret projections from S&OP team to ensure adequate supply.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience in category management, procurement, and/or purchasing.
• 2+ years experience as a people leader.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong business and financial acumen.
• Outstanding communication and time management skills.
• Knowledge of quality standards and industry certifications.
• Experience managing relationships with outside vendors.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and handling practices.
• Understanding of margins and profitability.
• Proficiency in Google and MS Office suite software.
