About the position

The Purchasing Manager at JCI is responsible for overseeing the purchasing team and managing procurement activities to align with company goals. This role involves developing and executing operational processes, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The Purchasing Manager will lead improvement projects, analyze performance metrics, and drive safety initiatives within the plant.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing team and oversee procurement operations.
• Supervise Buyers and Purchasing agents, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Maintain and control vendor relationships to optimize procurement activities.
• Lead improvement projects to achieve key plant objectives.
• Analyze department performance and financial results, preparing comparison spreadsheets.
• Assist Buyers in expediting materials and addressing procurement issues.
• Evaluate quality, pricing, reliability, and availability of goods and services.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley rules and corporate best practices.
• Drive safety performance to achieve JCI gold safety status.
• Perform safety observations and inspections as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in Purchasing, or 8 years of related experience without a degree.
• Normal mechanical and analytical ability, along with good communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• SAP experience is preferred.
