About the position

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement process, manage supplier relationships, and ensure effective inventory management. This role is crucial for optimizing the supply chain and supporting the operational goals of the organization, requiring strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of contract management.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current and past spend by supplier/item
• Identify and source out alternate suppliers and obtain multiple quotes
• Analyze profit margins on items
• Research additional sources for green & sustainable products
• Negotiate better pricing, payment terms, Rebate & Marketing Programs
• Reduce inventory/carrying costs and improve inventory turns
• Identify trends and plan accordingly
• Push back suppliers to hold inventory
• Ensure and oversee supplier compliance (Non Disclosures/Quality Control)
• Communicate and interact with sales for new product launches, updates for forecasts, slow inventory, promos, etc.
• Set up on-site meetings with vendors twice a month for training customer service on product lines
• Manage all Raw Material, Finished Goods, Wraps, and Outer Packaging Quantitative Inventory Management

Requirements

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of contract negotiation and supplier management practices
• Familiarity with inventory control systems, Netsuite software and Google or Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective vendor management
• Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions based on market trends
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• A degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not required
