About the position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, ensuring that all items are ordered, received, stored, and distributed according to established procedures. This role involves managing vendor relationships, maintaining inventory controls, and supporting the Executive Chef in purchasing food and beverage items to meet business needs while adhering to budgetary constraints and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing work, projects, policies, and standards for purchasing across departments.
  • Support generating and providing accurate and timely results in the form of reports and presentations.
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data.
  • Support sanitation compliance and assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of purchasing.
  • Order all food and beverage based on business needs and assist in maintaining/lowering budgeted costs.
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards as specified in brand guidelines.
  • Ensure proper safeguards for the security of food and beverage storeroom assets.
  • Enforce item use-up with storeroom personnel and kitchen management to keep inventory at the lowest possible levels.
  • Communicate with kitchen, restaurant management, and vendors to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Check invoices against shipments to ensure accuracy in quantity, quality, weights, and specifications.
  • Use existing computer programs to perform daily and period-end food and beverage costs.
  • Maintain inventory controls for proper levels, dating, rotation, and requisitions.
  • Complete administrative tasks on a timely basis, including C-7s and menu costing.
  • Support period-end inventory according to Food and Beverage and Accounting standard operating procedures.
  • Calculate figures for food and beverage inventory and communicate price and product availability issues.
  • Receive and inspect deliveries and maintain an accurate controllable log and beverage perpetual.
  • Support accurate administration of all invoices and adherence to proper bookkeeping procedures.

Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or related major; or a minimum of 2 years' experience in Purchasing or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.
  • Proficiency in using computers and computer systems for data processing and information management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage inventory management.
