About the position

The Purchasing Manager at aiTWorks will oversee the purchasing operations for a Japanese food distributor in Elk Grove Village, IL. This role is crucial for developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with the company's business goals, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. The position requires strong management skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams to optimize purchasing efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to support the company's business goals.
• Negotiate with vendors to secure the best price and service guarantees.
• Research and develop products to increase company sales and revenue.
• Monitor and forecast future demand and develop new sources of supply as needed.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies.
• Manage and develop food safety programs, including hazard analysis, sanitation, and recalls.
• Oversee quality control and ensure compliance with government food safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with purchasing staff at other locations to negotiate bulk purchase discounts and optimize efficiency.
• Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff for the department.
• Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the department, providing constructive and timely feedback, training and guidance.
• Participate in internal events and functions held outside of normal working hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Management experience of at least 5 years.
• Strong writing skills in English.
• Certified Purchasing Manager certification.
• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of purchasing experience required.

Nice-to-haves

• Business-level Japanese skills (preferred).
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in work content and workload.
