About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Chart Industries is responsible for overseeing and mentoring a team of purchasing professionals, ensuring effective procurement activities, and managing supplier relationships. This role involves strategic development of supply chain strategies, negotiation of contracts, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support customer deliveries. The Purchasing Manager will also report on supplier performance and implement improvement plans to enhance procurement efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Managing and mentoring a dynamic team of purchasing professionals
• Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for procurement activities
• Reporting to management on supplier performance and corrective actions
• Ensuring performance improvement and recovery plans are developed and tracked
• Negotiating and executing purchase orders or vendor contracts
• Managing material flow to maintain optimal inventory levels
• Developing and implementing commodity/supply chain strategies
• Leading strategic sourcing processes to drive cost reduction
• Managing supplier relationships and developing a competitive vendor base
• Implementing materials savings initiatives in line with business objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering or equivalent business experience
• 7-10 years progressive experience in Purchasing & Sourcing in the manufacturing industry
• Good understanding of packaging components and associated commodities
• Solid track record of meeting material cost reduction targets
• Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts to achieve objectives
• Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
