About the position

The Purchasing Manager at SIE Culinary Management Group is responsible for overseeing the procurement of high-quality ingredients, equipment, and supplies. This role focuses on cost-effective purchasing, inventory control, and supplier relationship management to support operational needs while maintaining quality standards and adhering to budget guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies to ensure consistent availability of key ingredients and supplies.
  • Accurately forecast demand for food items, beverages, and kitchen equipment based on sales trends and events.
  • Plan procurement activities in line with budget constraints to meet business objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
  • Regularly assess supplier performance and resolve disputes related to quality or pricing.
  • Maintain comprehensive vendor records and update agreements regularly.
  • Secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards through price negotiations.
  • Monitor industry trends to anticipate changes in procurement costs and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives such as bulk buying and contract renegotiations.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory using inventory management software.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to adjust purchasing plans based on menu changes and events.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits to identify discrepancies and reduce waste.
  • Ensure all purchased items meet quality requirements and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with culinary staff to review and update product specifications.
  • Stay informed about new products and practices in the culinary field.
  • Accurately document all purchasing transactions and maintain records for auditing purposes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on procurement metrics for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the culinary or hospitality industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and understanding of supply chain management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supplier management and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is a plus.
