About the position

As a Purchasing and Vendor Relationships Manager, you will be a proactive and efficient leader responsible for sourcing and managing top-quality parts essential for our operations. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that our fleet of company vehicles is well-maintained and that our technicians have the necessary tools and parts to perform their jobs effectively. You will oversee the entire inventory management process, ensuring that we have the right parts available at the right time, while also managing vendor relationships to secure high-quality parts and exceptional turnaround times. Your ability to communicate effectively with vendors and service managers will be crucial in keeping everyone informed about order statuses and ensuring that parts are procured swiftly and accurately. In this role, you will also assist in the oversight of the company vehicle fleet, managing repairs, monitoring vehicle conditions, and ensuring availability while controlling costs within budget. You will lead a quality-driven inventory management process, proposing and implementing new systems and ideas to boost efficiency and support management goals. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the in-house Tool Crib, ensuring that tools are well-organized, properly tracked, and in top condition. Your secondary duties will include actively reducing waste and dead inventory, processing parts requests from technicians, and exploring local opportunities for quick parts turnaround, especially for custom sizes and parts. This position requires a strong background in procurement and vendor relationship management, along with leadership experience. Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless order status updates and consistent follow-ups with vendors to keep Service Managers informed.
  • Source, order, and secure essential parts for technician job orders with precision and speed.
  • Build and manage strong vendor partnerships for fleet, parts, and supplies through expert contract negotiation.
  • Assist in the oversight of the entire company vehicle fleet, managing repairs, monitoring condition, ensuring availability, and controlling costs within budget.
  • Lead a profitable and quality-driven inventory management process.
  • Propose and implement new systems and ideas to boost efficiency and support management goals.
  • Support management of the in-house Tool Crib, ensuring tools are in top condition, well-organized, and properly tracked.
  • Actively reduce waste, dead inventory, and facility scrap.
  • Process parts requests from technicians and monitor status until approved and ordered.
  • Explore local opportunities for quick parts turnaround, especially for custom sizes and parts.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • At least 4 years of experience in procurement and purchasing is required.
  • At least 4 years of experience with vendor relationship management is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity, whether of people or processes, is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in industrial machines, machining, or other applicable environments is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a purchasing department is preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems is preferred.
