About the position

The Purchasing Manager at NuProduce Solutions is responsible for overseeing the procurement of specialty produce products, ensuring they meet quality standards and are acquired at the best possible prices. This role involves managing purchasing activities across various divisions, maintaining inventory levels, and fostering strategic relationships with suppliers. The position is full-time and based in Bowling Green, OH, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and meeting internal expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all traditional purchasing/sourcing activities across all offices and geographical territories.
  • Set, implement, and monitor purchasing guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain correct inventory levels and identify seasonal purchases.
  • Manage budgeted targets on turnover, inventory caps, and risk targets.
  • Directly supervise purchasing staff and manage performance.
  • Research and analyze all purchases, conducting quarterly reviews.
  • Ensure adequate stock on hand for fresh and frozen products, including specifications and delivery arrangements.
  • Communicate relevant information to other departments.
  • Leverage market advantages to buy at least 10% below market prices.

Requirements

  • Proven success in a supervisory or management role in Purchasing.
  • Experience drafting vendor agreements and assessing risk with suppliers.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills for reports, contracts, and documentation.
  • Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in the food processing industry.
  • Knowledge of local and global markets in the industry.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation applications.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations such as discounts and percentages.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with corporate departments and partners.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
