The Purchasing Manager is responsible for establishing proper inventory stocking levels to ensure expected service levels that support the business. This role involves the replenishment and accurate maintenance of the region's inventory, ensuring compliance with Matheson's Preferred Vendor and Private Label programs. The Purchasing Manager will report directly to the Inventory Control Manager (ICM) and will play a crucial role in the operational procurement environment, focusing on strategic management and sourcing to optimize inventory processes. In this position, the individual will be expected to demonstrate strong selling, negotiating, planning, and time management skills. The ability to work independently while managing pressure to meet deadlines is essential. Excellent organizational skills are required, along with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Email. The Purchasing Manager will also need to possess influential leadership skills and a results-oriented mindset, capable of reporting to various levels within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business or Engineering, along with at least five years of proven experience in an operational procurement environment. Knowledge of industrial, medical, and specialty gas cylinders, as well as bulk and cryogenic gases, is considered a plus. The role requires a high level of reactivity and proactivity, with a strong communicative ability to transfer necessary information to both internal and external customers efficiently and clearly. A customer needs mindset is crucial for success in this role.
