In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for evaluating material vendors across multiple categories to continuously improve the quality of materials, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs. Key responsibilities include preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials, analyzing market trends and delivery systems to assess current and future material costs, and negotiating purchasing contracts, discounts, and rebate structures. The Purchasing Manager will also participate in material forecasting processes alongside sales teams and execute purchasing strategies to meet customer forecast needs. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will ensure that materials are purchased at competitive prices and delivered on time to meet production demands. This includes developing and implementing purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures, as well as establishing strong relationships with key suppliers aligned with the company's needs. The role also involves preparing reports on market conditions and forecasts, maintaining records of goods ordered and received, reviewing purchase order claims and contracts for compliance with company policy, and resolving vendor grievances and claims against suppliers. The Purchasing Manager will assist in managing inventory and obsolescence as needed, ensuring that the purchasing process aligns with the overall goals of Patrick Industries.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials.
  • Analyze market trends and delivery systems to assess present and future material costs.
  • Negotiate purchasing contracts, discount, and rebate structures.
  • Participate and drive material forecast processes with sales and execute purchasing strategies to meet customer forecast needs.
  • Ensure materials are purchased at the most competitive price and delivered on time to meet production demands.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish strong relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs.
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions, market forecasts, and make purchasing recommendations.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
  • Assist in the management of obsolescence.
  • Assist with inventory management as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in Purchasing.
  • Proven capabilities to negotiate successfully.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Strong accountability and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment with changing daily priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills, with strong working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities.
  • Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt.
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
