About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Ascot is responsible for ensuring a reliable supply of quality materials and subcontractors at competitive costs, while maintaining adherence to building codes and company standards. This role requires a knowledgeable and resourceful individual who can foster constructive relationships and enforce strict controls within the procurement process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely supply of materials and subcontractors that meet standards and building codes.
  • Procure and maintain a network of reliable, cost-competitive suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Provide direction and contribute to value engineering efforts.
  • Foster constructive relationships within the company and with the supply/production chain.
  • Manage General Trade Agreements and purchasing documentation.
  • Estimate materials and labor needs for various construction projects.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to convey positions clearly.
  • Utilize mathematical and analytical skills to create performance and control models.
  • Identify and resolve emerging problems in the supply chain before they affect production.
  • Follow up on subcontractor/supplier performance and effectiveness.
  • Review plans, scopes-of-work, and specifications for accuracy.
  • Match purchase orders with invoices to ensure accuracy and completion of work.
  • Take initiative in searching for and negotiating labor and materials procurement.
  • Bid on new plans and options, ensuring accuracy in company systems.
  • Recruit and maintain subcontractors to meet construction timelines.
  • Monitor costs associated with construction to ensure competitive pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Five or more years of related experience in residential/commercial construction.
  • Knowledge of estimating materials and labor needs for construction projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills for performance and control modeling.
  • Ability to identify and resolve supply chain problems proactively.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
