The Purchasing Manager at ACON Labs plays a crucial role in managing the sourcing and procurement of materials and services essential for business operations. The role requires strong project management skills and a deep understanding of supply chain management to analyze costs, mitigate risks, and forecast future needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the process of sourcing and purchasing essential materials for business operations.
  • Researching raw materials suppliers and comparing costs.
  • Tracking metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Developing inventory controls to identify demand for new materials.
  • Evaluating potential suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed.
  • Negotiating contracts and purchase agreements with suppliers on behalf of the organization.
  • Analyzing demand patterns and forecasting future needs to avoid shortages or excesses.
  • Maintaining records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with vendors.
  • Resolving grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Preparing and presenting market conditions and merchandise cost reports.
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies.
  • Administering the departmental budget.
  • Coordinating removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Drafting, explaining, and implementing instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or similar field.
  • 7+ years hands-on experience in Purchasing with proven success in career progression relevant to Manufacturing, Distribution, Production Control, Inventory Management, and Logistics.
  • Specialty Chemicals Industry Experience is a plus.
  • Experience in Manufacturing setting a plus, but not required.
  • Proven success in coaching, leading, and developing a team of multiple direct reports.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
  • Tactical ERP/MRP experience required, SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects across various functional areas within an organization.
  • Ability to prove as a cross-functional leader in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • TPM or Lean Manufacturing Experience strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
