About the position

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies for the organization, ensuring that purchases are made in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards. This role involves negotiating with suppliers, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for purchasing material, parts, supplies, and equipment in a timely and cost-effective way while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.
• Forecast procurement needs and manage suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain.
• Develop and maintain a qualified supplier list for ITAR compliance.
• Establish department practices and procedures for purchasing.
• Prepare purchase requisitions, obtain appropriate approvals, and issue purchase orders according to company policy and negotiated terms.
• Negotiate with suppliers to expedite product delivery as needed.
• Communicate with other departments regarding new product developments and availability of materials and supplies.
• Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with users and vendors to determine the cause of the problem and take corrective action.
• Ensure supplier compliance with company requirements for quality, safety, and delivery.
• Manage supplier relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 5 years of purchasing and negotiating experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
• Ability to work with suppliers and vendors directly through different channels of communication.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced job shop environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet usage.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in aerospace manufacturing (3 years preferred).
• Supplier management experience (3 years preferred).
