The Purchasing Manager will play a crucial role in supporting all manufacturing facilities, the corporate office, marketing, finance, and IT departments by providing solutions to sourcing challenges in a dynamic environment. This position is designed for individuals who demonstrate the potential to advance within the organization. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for various key functions, including supplier management, contract negotiation, procurement strategy development, inventory management, cost control, quality assurance, process improvement, data analysis, and team management. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability, and monitor supplier performance through regular reviews. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and collaborate with cross-functional teams to qualify vendors. The position also involves overseeing inventory levels to ensure optimal stock without overstocking or stockouts, collaborating with production and logistics teams to forecast demand, and implementing procurement strategies to minimize costs while managing risks. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that all purchased materials meet required standards and address any quality issues with suppliers promptly. Continuous evaluation and improvement of purchasing processes will be essential to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The role requires strong analytical skills to analyze market trends, demand patterns, and supplier performance data, as well as prepare regular reports on procurement activities and performance metrics. Finally, the Purchasing Manager will lead and develop a team of purchasing professionals, providing training, support, and performance feedback to ensure a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten years in the buying, sourcing, or procurement function.
  • Experience in the dairy or food industry required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain.
  • Experience with setting up and developing processes and protocols in Microsoft D365 or another ERP system.
  • Curiosity as it relates to purchasing and financial systems management.
  • Proven track record of working with teams and providing organizational direction.
  • Negotiating and interpersonal skills.
