About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Toledo Tool & Die is responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials, products, and services to support the company's operations. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating purchasing activities while ensuring compliance with company policies and supplier agreements. The Purchasing Manager will also focus on streamlining processes to enhance efficiency and support the company's growth objectives.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate contracts and formulate policies with suppliers and vendors.
• Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, and supplier performance regarding material delivery.
• Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in buying and distributing materials and supplies.
• Locate suitable vendors and determine product availability and terms of sales.
• Ensure execution of purchase orders in accordance with purchasing strategies and supplier agreements.
• Provide input in supplier agreements to align with business processes and objectives.
• Lead and develop team members to foster a positive business culture.
• Support quality and compliance with IATF-16949 documentation requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Degree in a related field or a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in purchasing steel and knowledge of metal stampings in an OEM or Tier I/II supplier context.
• Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Familiarity with production methods and coordination of people and resources.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost management techniques.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems, preferably Plex.
