About the position

The Purchasing Manager at LSI Industries is responsible for managing the purchasing procedures and tactical supply of raw materials and components. This role involves providing functional supervision to the purchasing department's buying team, driving departmental efficiencies, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to enhance buying processes and on-time performance. The Purchasing Manager is accountable for achieving cost savings, supplier delivery performance, and inventory management goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing procedures and tactical supply of raw materials and components.
  • Provide functional supervision of the purchasing department's buying team.
  • Drive departmental efficiencies to meet business objectives through process improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support and improve buying processes and on-time performance.
  • Ensure all critical department KPIs are being met.
  • Work with material planners to improve safety stock and inventory position.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relations to resolve problems and handle conflicts.
  • Select, manage, develop, and appraise assigned staff.
  • Meet with suppliers to address tactical expectations related to ordering and inventory levels.
  • Run monthly reports for buyers and address improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in meetings as the purchasing representative.
  • Address system improvements with the One World Team to enhance capabilities and efficiencies.
  • Update and maintain processes, procedures, and related policies.
  • Handle timekeeping, invoice approvals, and p-card expenditures.
  • Process parts release, request for quotes, and ECN approvals.
  • Step into the Buyer role when necessary.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume MRP manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in MRP systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, suppliers, and internal customers.
  • Ability to manage supply chain and establish supplier partnerships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability to evaluate data and make recommendations.
  • Demonstrated solid decision-making and negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four (4) year college degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
  • Industry standard certification such as APICS 'CPIM/CIRM' or NAPM 'CPM' is a plus.
