About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Fairmont Orchid is responsible for leading and managing the Purchasing and Receiving Department in a luxury resort environment. This role involves overseeing a talented team, ensuring quality and cost control in purchasing processes, and maintaining supplier relationships. The position aims to foster a culture of excellence while achieving financial objectives and enhancing guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and train all Purchasing and Receiving staff.
  • Ensure all Purchasing and Receiving procedures and systems are in place for quality, quantity, storage, and cost control.
  • Estimate costs based on market prices and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations.
  • Manage monthly inventory and oversee storeroom upkeep.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute purchasing strategy to maximize hotel leverage.
  • Oversee administration and control of national commitment contracts.
  • Manage supplier-partner relationships to ensure contract compliance with Entegra Buying Group.
  • Maintain professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
  • Supervise, lead, and motivate the Purchasing team towards exceptional results and employee engagement.
  • Ensure achievement of financial objectives through accurate staffing and scheduling.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Highly organized and results-oriented with flexibility under pressure.
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an advantage.
  • Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs and possess a valid class 5 driver's license with a clear abstract.
