About the position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading and supervising the purchasing activities of WarHorse Casino, ensuring compliance with strategic sourcing processes to optimize spending. This role focuses on delivering financial savings, maintaining product quality, and enhancing supplier service levels while managing the purchasing and warehouse teams effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to receiving/warehouse staff.
  • Lead the company's purchasing activities and ensure compliance with strategic sourcing processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to centralize procurement and streamline sourcing processes.
  • Assist with the setup and implementation of an integrated purchasing system.
  • Oversee contract drafts and negotiations with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Create standard operating procedures for purchasing activities to comply with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between business units, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
  • Process purchase orders for select categories of goods and services.
  • Identify trends and develop solutions for delivery issues.
  • Communicate the status of orders with respective departments.
  • Recommend and approve vendors and place orders according to company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission requirements for purchasing and vendor licensing.
  • Assist in preparing and obtaining quotations, processing requisitions, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Review bid proposals and evaluate new products available on the market.
  • Assist in the preparation of the department budget.
  • Handle recruitment, hiring, training, and personnel-related matters for assigned departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum ten years of financial management experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Four years of progressive supervisory/managerial responsibilities required.
  • Ability to read fine print areas of invoices and contracts.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple teams and high-value contracts.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial acumen and cost-benefit analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strategic sourcing and procurement background in a resort casino preferred.
  • Certifications such as CPA, CMA, CPIM, CCSP, or CLTD preferred.
