About the position

The Lead Procurement Buyer/Manager is responsible for overseeing the purchasing department at the Atlanta facility, ensuring that stock and inventory levels meet customer needs. This role involves processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining quality assurance while collaborating with various departments to manage inventory effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Process and confirm purchase orders (POs) and communicate ordering needs promptly.
  • Reply to all emails by the end of the business day.
  • Maintain and keep price lists current on the appropriate drive.
  • Resolve vendor problems and escalate issues for timely resolution.
  • Obtain information about customer needs or preferences by conferring with sales personnel.
  • Analyze each purchase request for need, volume, price, and quantity.
  • Manage open POs, back orders, and inventory levels, alerting Customer Service to changes.
  • Facilitate new suppliers completing the ISO Supplier Evaluation form for the Approved Vendor List.
  • Negotiate prices, discount terms, or transportation arrangements with suppliers.
  • Authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise.
  • Monitor and analyze sales records and trends to anticipate customer buying patterns.
  • Control stock levels based on forecasts and min/max reports.
  • Serve as backup to normal merchandiser functions, including quoting and sourcing.
  • Facilitate new item setup and maintain thorough records.
  • Assist with slow-moving inventory and expedite material based on customer needs.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and serve as a liaison with various departments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in procurement or purchasing management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical skills to assess purchasing requests and inventory needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with suppliers.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with ISO Supplier Evaluation processes.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
  • Knowledge of market trends and economic conditions affecting procurement.
