About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Ortho Development Corporation is responsible for overseeing the procurement process of materials, supplies, and equipment essential for the manufacturing and operation of orthopedic medical devices. This role is critical in ensuring a steady supply chain, cost efficiency, and adherence to quality and regulatory standards, while collaborating closely with suppliers, production teams, and regulatory affairs to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals, focusing on cost-effective purchasing without compromising quality.
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring vendor performance.
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, avoiding shortages or overstock.
  • Monitor and control procurement budgets, analyzing purchasing trends and seeking opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure all materials and components meet the company's quality standards and comply with relevant medical device regulations.
  • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms that protect the company's interests.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize supply disruptions.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and R&D teams to ensure that purchased materials meet technical specifications.
  • Ensure that all procurement activities align with regulatory requirements for medical devices, maintaining proper documentation for audits.
  • Utilize procurement software and data analytics to track KPIs and monitor supplier performance, providing reports to senior management.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain the purchasing department including buyers and supply chain analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years experience in Purchasing, Planning, and Inventory.
  • Experience with ERP software, specifically Microsoft D365.
  • Proven experience with contract negotiations and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of purchasing techniques, bills of materials, and inventory control techniques.
  • Knowledge of master scheduling practices and plant capacity planning.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong performance skills including accuracy with detail, planning, organizing, and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, FDA guidelines).
