About the position

This position plays a critical role in the core mission of QCI: building scalable, high-performance quantum computers. Our quantum hardware is based on superconducting circuits that require specialized handling, microwave measurement, and data analysis. We design, manufacture and integrate many custom parts and key components into several hardware subsystems. Managing the sourcing activity of these parts is key to our success. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to support our business. In this role, you will be embedded within the hardware engineering team and responsible for managing and developing vendor relationships to secure availability of parts and implement new technologies in our research and development activities. Other responsibilities include forecasting needs, budgeting, negotiating prices and terms, placing orders and tracking deliveries for our Quantum computer. You will also be needed to help develop processes and tools to manage more efficiently our sourcing activity.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall supplier management including the establishment of pricing, lot size, lead-time, and other business terms to enable effective and efficient supply of parts.
  • Manage inventory and needs for hardware components used in control systems, fridges infrastructure and quantum computer assemblies.
  • Work with the hardware team to identify key suppliers, reach out, complete onboarding and then manage relationship and commercial activities.
  • Help the team to place orders and track deliveries.
  • Help implement BOM control processes, inventory and product life cycle processes and systems.
  • Work with accounting team to process orders and payment.
  • Maintain exceptional relationships with suppliers while aggressively resolving supplier performance/capability issues to ensure alignment with QCI expectations.
  • Effectively represent QCI when interfacing with other companies.

Requirements

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of supply chain/sourcing positions.
  • Ability to effectively deploy all sourcing-related policies, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of hardware engineering teamwork and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong Business acumen.
