About the position

The Purchasing Manager position is a critical role within our manufacturing plant, requiring a candidate with 3-5 years of purchasing experience. This role is designed for a self-motivated and energetic individual who is willing to engage directly on the plant floor. The Purchasing Manager will oversee an annual spend of $5 million, focusing on the procurement of corrugated boxes, corrugated sheets, film lamination, and various graphic arts finishing supplies, as well as parts and services for all machines in the plant. This position does not require a degree, making it accessible to a wider range of candidates with relevant experience. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the company acquires necessary goods and services at the right quality, quantity, and price. This involves collaborating with suppliers, negotiating contracts, analyzing market trends, and optimizing the procurement process. The Purchasing Manager will also monitor inventory levels and align procurement strategies with the organization's overall goals, ensuring that the manufacturing process runs smoothly and efficiently. Key responsibilities include researching suppliers to evaluate raw materials, comparing costs, and assessing quality, reliability, technical support, and availability of goods and services. The Purchasing Manager will negotiate purchase agreements to secure the best prices for high-quality goods, develop inventory controls by establishing guidelines for obtaining price quotes, accepting bids, and selecting vendors. Additionally, they will be responsible for planning and scheduling to ensure timely receipt and inventory control of assigned products and services.
