About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Janicki Industries is responsible for negotiating with vendors for the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services essential for the company's operations. This role involves developing and maintaining vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with quality and delivery objectives, and leading the Purchasing team to drive best practices in procurement. The position requires collaboration with various internal teams to manage inventory levels and improve purchasing processes, ultimately contributing to cost savings and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with vendors for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and manage the approved suppliers list.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Quality functions to ensure vendor performance meets company standards.
  • Provide leadership for the Purchasing team and collaborate with Program Management and Sales.
  • Interface with the Materials team to manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Drive best practices and ensure compliance with AS9100 quality requirements.
  • Manage the evaluation, selection, transition, and monitoring of contractual agreements.
  • Negotiate best prices for materials and services and inform executive management of industry trends.
  • Identify purchasing process improvements to generate cost savings.
  • Monitor results against goals and provide feedback to executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to excellence.
  • Comprehensive PC skills, including MS Office (Excel/Access/Word/PowerPoint).
  • APICS or other materials management certification is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ITAR and EAR regulations.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards.
