About the position

Carestream Health is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team at one of our US locations, including Rochester, NY, Windsor, CO, White City, Oregon, or Oakdale, MN. This role is hybrid, requiring 60% in-office presence and 40% remote work. The Purchasing Manager will play a crucial role in supporting Carestream's strategic procurement initiatives and will be a key part of our purchasing organization. This highly visible leadership position involves leading a team of Commodity Managers (CMs) while also managing specific commodity category responsibilities. The Purchasing Manager will be empowered to deliver value across both team and individual assigned commodity categories, and will be expected to perform high-level sourcing and negotiation activities. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will lead a team of experienced professional CMs located in various regions, including China and Latin America. The responsibilities include building and maintaining cross-functional relationships, creating and managing budgets, establishing team goals, and providing coaching and mentorship to team members. The Purchasing Manager will also be responsible for tracking and reporting team accomplishments, conducting performance reviews, and leading internal corporate projects and improvement programs. The position requires specialized skills in chemicals, including deep knowledge and experience in chemical sourcing and exposure to manufacturing clients. The Purchasing Manager will partner with leadership and internal clients to analyze and rationalize products and technology to drive added value. Additionally, the role involves strategic sourcing, utilizing functional knowledge of procurement market analysis, and managing domestic and international suppliers and supply chains. The Purchasing Manager will negotiate pricing and terms, manage payment terms, and ensure timely payments to suppliers, while also understanding global logistics markets to facilitate efficient movement of purchased items.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of experienced professional Commodity Managers across various commodity categories.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships based on win-win goals and objectives.
  • Create budgets and manage fiscal goals and expectations.
  • Establish team goals, measure and manage progress against those goals, and coach and mentor where necessary.
  • Track and report team accomplishments and progress against goals.
  • Provide employee development planning and execution.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-ones with assigned direct reports to maintain relationships and individual progress.
  • Organize and conduct a monthly staff meeting with all direct reports present.
  • Prepare mid-year and year-end performance reviews, providing relevant and constructive feedback.
  • Lead and/or support internal corporate projects and Global Purchasing projects and improvement programs.
  • Utilize deep knowledge and experience in chemicals and chemical sourcing to drive added value.
  • Generate and evaluate Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Negotiate pricing and terms, and manage contract documents for assigned commodity categories.
  • Define, establish, and lead the strategic sourcing process, including marketplace analysis and supplier selection.
  • Manage domestic and international suppliers and supply chains, ensuring timely payments and resolving payment delays.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or Finance.
  • Minimum 7 years of procurement, sourcing, or commodity management experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 4 years of prior supervisory experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, and teamwork experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships based on win-win goals and objectives.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a self-managed team environment with minimal direct supervision.
  • Proven track record of delivering or exceeding expectations.
  • Effective computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-Mail, and Internet; experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP/Ariba.
  • Innovative and results-oriented with a high degree of professional and ethical behavior.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, and executive presence.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures and global country practices.
  • Excellent business and financial acumen, with the ability to function as a business partner.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or other Masters degree.
  • Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment or similar highly regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with Federal Drug Administration (FDA) Supplier Controls.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485 standards.
  • Six Sigma certification (green, brown, or black belt) or equivalent.
  • Professional purchasing or supply chain certifications.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Second language skills.
