About the position

The Purchasing Manager at D&L Wood Products, Inc. is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials. This role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and an understanding of the millwork industry, particularly in cabinetry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast material needs to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
• Collaborate with production and design teams to understand material specifications and requirements.
• Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all purchasing activities.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in the cabinetry/woodworking industry.
• Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of cost savings.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
• Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
