Major Food Group is seeking an experienced Purchasing Analyst to join our growing team. The Purchasing Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Purchasing Director in managing food costs and purchasing operations. This position will involve collaboration with our operations team to analyze inventory and purchasing data, aiming to achieve lower Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and enhance operational efficiencies, ultimately improving unit economics. The Purchasing Analyst will utilize inventory management software to generate on-demand insights that support operational decision-making regarding COGS, waste, and variance goals. In this role, the Purchasing Analyst will work closely with the Director of Purchasing and Chefs to maintain or lower budgeted food and controllable costs. They will be responsible for generating food cost reports to assist in evaluating controllable financials on a weekly basis, calculating recipe costs and theoreticals for restaurants across Major Food Group. The analyst will ensure that best practices are being utilized, including making purchases based on competitive pricing, establishing and maintaining pars, and ensuring proper inventory rotation. Additionally, the Purchasing Analyst will assist and eventually lead continued learning and training sessions, identify sourcing strategies for commodities to achieve Major Food Group's objectives, and help with product sourcing and vendor relationships. They will ensure that new openings have a stable supply chain in place and identify products for national pricing for Major Food Group brands. Compliance with all brand-established systems and procedures is essential, along with providing ad hoc departmental and operational support as needed.
