About the position

The Purchasing Manager will lead and optimize procurement processes within the Union Facility in Brunswick, GA. This role requires a strong background in tactical and strategic purchasing, inventory management, and manufacturing. The Purchasing Manager will drive cost efficiencies, ensure supply continuity, and lead procurement initiatives that align with the company's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives that drive cost reductions, improve quality, and support the overall business strategy.
  • Manage day-to-day tactical procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management.
  • Oversee inventory management processes to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing to ensure timely procurement of materials and services to meet production schedules.
  • Lead the management of service categories, including contract negotiation, vendor selection, and performance monitoring.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains and high-quality products.
  • Implement best practices in purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management to improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Analyze market trends, identify risks, and make recommendations to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Drive the use of data analytics to enhance decision-making and optimize purchasing strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; a Master's degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, with a focus on inventory management, manufacturing, and managing service categories.
  • Strong experience in both tactical and strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage a team.
  • Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to develop and implement data-driven purchasing strategies.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in implementing and managing supplier performance and continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience in cost modeling and contract management.
