About the position

The Purchasing Manager at AMF Bakery is responsible for leading the purchasing team while executing buying responsibilities. This role involves strategic and tactical leadership, ensuring the supply base is adequate for the company's needs, and actively controlling costs and vendor performance. The Purchasing Manager collaborates with various internal business partners to optimize procurement and inventory opportunities, aiming to drive supply chain excellence and support operational goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical leadership of the purchasing team.
• Execute buying responsibilities for components, materials, OEM items, and Non-Standard items.
• Ensure the supply base is adequate to meet company needs.
• Lead a group of Buyers to drive positive results through partnerships.
• Collaborate with AMF-owned companies for procurement and inventory opportunities.
• Establish and maintain inventory levels as determined by Product Groups.
• Promote design standardization across departments to ensure cost containment.
• Participate in management events as required.
• Understand and enforce company policies, leading by example.

Requirements

• 5-10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Some college experience preferred.
• Good understanding of MS Office products.
• Excellent negotiating skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and find solutions independently or with a team.
• Experience with A3/DMAIC/PDCA methodologies is preferred.
• Working knowledge of MRP and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
• Strong background in ERP/MRP concepts and configurations.
