The Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the purchasing department's activities, ensuring that all procurement processes align with the company's operational goals. This position requires a hands-on approach to daily production purchasing, where the manager will lead the team in negotiating, establishing, and managing supplier contracts. The Purchasing Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that suppliers comply with all regulatory requirements and expectations, thereby maintaining the integrity of the supply chain. In addition to supplier management, the Purchasing Manager will monitor planning and buying practices to secure the best prices and delivery performance while controlling inventory investments. This role involves close collaboration with product development and engineering teams to support sourcing activities and supplier selection, ensuring that the company maintains a favorable image with suppliers based on honesty and integrity. The manager will coordinate purchasing, inventory control, and material handling activities with other company personnel to promote teamwork and support operational objectives. The Purchasing Manager will evaluate inventory control information systems for effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. They will lead changes in inventory management in response to external factors such as shortages, forecast changes, lead-time changes, engineering changes, and part usage changes. Collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams will be essential to achieve cost reduction targets and promote continual improvement in all aspects of department operations. The manager will also evaluate, establish, and monitor department goals and objectives, ensuring they drive desired results while continually measuring and analyzing supplier quality, delivery, and service performance, coordinating corrective actions as necessary.
